This profile represents the constraint applied to the CodeableConcept data type by the PS-CA project to use the [PS-CA Coding](http fhir.infoway-inforoute.ca io psca StructureDefinition Coding-ca-ps) data type profile in a way that is informed by the constraints of the [CodeableConcept IPS-UV profile](http hl7.org fhir uv ips StructureDefinition-CodeableConcept-uv-ips.html) but removes the overarching expectation that all patient summary creators must demonstrate they can support codings for conformance.

This profile represents the constraint applied to the CodeableConcept data type (for medication) by the PS-CA project to use the [PS-CA Medication Coding](http fhir.infoway-inforoute.ca io psca StructureDefinition Coding-medication-ca-ps) data type profile in a way that is informed by the constraints of the [CodeableConcept IPS-UV profile](http hl7.org fhir uv ips StructureDefinition-CodeableConcept-uv-ips.html). It reflects the expectation that systems are compliant if they process and represent medication codes according to the specified coding systems and ensure that a textual description is always present.

This profile mandates presence of system and code elements (for medication use-case). It also raises awareness of the FHIR Core [translation](http hl7.org fhir StructureDefinition translation) standard extension. This profile is informed by the constraints of the [IPS-UV Coding](http hl7.org fhir uv ips StructureDefinition-Coding-uv-ips.html) profile.

This profile represents the constraints applied to the Practitioner resource by the PS-CA project to represent a practitioner acting as observer for diagnostic results. It is informed by the constraints of the [Practitioner IPS-UV profile](http hl7.org fhir uv ips StructureDefinition-Practitioner-uv-ips.html) and the [Canadian Baseline Profile](http build.fhir.org ig HL7-Canada ca-baseline branches master StructureDefinition-profile-practitioner.html) to allow for cross-border and cross-jurisdiction sharing of details that support Diagnostic Result Information. This profile may be underpinned by a CA Core profile in the future. There is a possibility it will be replaced entirely by a CA Core profile if the requirements for use in lab are aligned to expectations for generic use.

This profile ensures systems support important Coding elements including system code and display. It also raises awareness of the FHIR Core [translation](http hl7.org fhir StructureDefinition translation) standard extension. This profile is informed by the constraints of the [IPS-UV Coding](http hl7.org fhir uv ips StructureDefinition-Coding-uv-ips.html) profile. Unlike IPS however the PS-CA profile does not flag the translation extension as Must Support; this may change in future releases.

This profile represents the constraint applied to the Quantity data type by the PS-CA project to use UCUM as the code system for units. Informed by the constraints of the [Quantity IPS-UV profile](http hl7.org fhir uv ips StructureDefinition-Quantity-uv-ips.html).

This profile represents the constraints applied to the Organization resource by the PS-CA project to represent an organization that acts as performer or observer for a result observation (laboratory pathology or imaging) or as performer for a procedure. This profile represents the constraint applied to the Ratio data type by the PS-CA project to use UCUM as the code system for units in a way that is informed by the constraints of the [Ratio IPS-UV profile](http hl7.org fhir uv ips StructureDefinition-Ratio-uv-ips.html).

This profile represents the constraints applied to the Immunization resource by the PS-CA project to represent a record of immunization in the patient summary. It describes the event of a patient being administered a vaccination or a record of a vaccination as reported by a patient a clinician or another party.
