Profile on Composition
Project PS-CA-R1
This profile represents the constraints applied to the Composition resource by the PS-CA project. A Canadian Patient Summary (PS-CA) document is an electronic health record extract containing essential healthcare information about a subject of care. It is informed by the IPS-UV Composition profile but differs in its application of Must Support flags on some of the sections to allow for jurisdictional implementors flexibility in what sections systems Must Support in order to show conformance to their respective patient summaries. The PS-CA dataset is minimal and non-exhaustive; specialty-agnostic and condition-independent; but still clinically relevant. It is informed by the requirements specified in EN 17269 and ISO DIS 27269 it is designed for supporting the international use case scenario for ‘unplanned cross border care’ but is also designed to support a variety of use cases for cross-jurisdiction exchange. It is intended to guide implementation nationally while ensuring international exchange of patient summaries is not impeded. This profile is based on the ClinicalDocument profile from the base R4 FHIR standard.

Profile on Immunization
Project PS-CA-R1
This profile represents the constraints applied to the Immunization resource by the PS-CA project to represent a record of immunization in the patient summary. It is informed by the constraints of the [Immunization IPS-UV profile](http hl7.org fhir uv ips StructureDefinition-Immunization-uv-ips.html) and the [Canadian Baseline Profile](http build.fhir.org ig HL7-Canada ca-baseline branches master StructureDefinition-profile-immunization.html) to allow for cross-border and cross-jurisdiction sharing of Medication Summary information. It describes the event of a patient being administered a vaccination or a record of a vaccination as reported by a patient a clinician or another party.

Profile on Condition
Project PS-CA-R1
This profile represents the constraints applied to the Condition resource by the PS-CA project which is informed by the constraints of the [Condition IPS-UV profile](http hl7.org fhir uv ips StructureDefinition-Condition-uv-ips.html) and the [Canadian Baseline Profile](http build.fhir.org ig HL7-Canada ca-baseline branches master StructureDefinition-profile-condition.html) to allow for cross-border and cross-jurisdiction sharing of a record of a problem represented in the patient summary as an instance of the Condition resource constrained by this profile.

Profile on AllergyIntolerance
Project PS-CA-R1
This profile represents the constraints applied to the AllergyIntolerance resource by the PS-CA project which is informed by the constraints of the [AllergyIntolerance IPS-UV profile](http hl7.org fhir uv ips StructureDefinition-AllergyIntolerance-uv-ips.html) and the [Canadian Baseline Profile](http build.fhir.org ig HL7-Canada ca-baseline branches master StructureDefinition-profile-allergyintolerance.html) to allow for cross-border and cross-jurisdiction sharing of Allergies and Intolerances. It documents the relevant allergies or intolerances (conditions) for a patient describing the kind of reaction (e.g. rash anaphylaxis ..); preferably the agents that cause it; and optionally the criticality and the certainty of the allergy.

Profile on Patient
Project PS-CA-R1
This profile represents the constraints applied to the Patient resource by the PS-CA project to represent the minimum expectations for the Patient resource when used in the PS-CA composition profile or in one of the referred resources. It is informed by the constraints of the [Patient IPS-UV profile](http hl7.org fhir uv ips StructureDefinition-Patient-uv-ips.html) and the [Canadian Baseline Profile](http build.fhir.org ig HL7-Canada ca-baseline branches master StructureDefinition-profile-patient.html)

Profile on CodeableConcept
Project PS-CA-R1
This profile represents the constraint applied to the CodeableConcept data type by the PS-CA project to use the [PS-CA Coding](http fhir.infoway-inforoute.ca io psca StructureDefinition Coding-ca-ps) data type profile in a way that is informed by the constraints of the [CodeableConcept IPS-UV profile](http hl7.org fhir uv ips StructureDefinition-CodeableConcept-uv-ips.html) but removes the overarching expectation that all patient summary creators must demonstrate they can support codings for conformance.

Profile on CodeableConcept
Project PS-CA-R1
This profile represents the constraint applied to the CodeableConcept data type (for medication) by the PS-CA project to use the [PS-CA Medication Coding](http fhir.infoway-inforoute.ca io psca StructureDefinition Coding-medication-ca-ps) data type profile in a way that is informed by the constraints of the [CodeableConcept IPS-UV profile](http hl7.org fhir uv ips StructureDefinition-CodeableConcept-uv-ips.html). It reflects the expectation that systems are compliant if they process and represent medication codes according to the specified coding systems and ensure that a textual description is always present.

Profile on Coding
Project PS-CA-R1
This profile mandates presence of system and code elements (for medication use-case). It also raises awareness of the FHIR Core [translation](http hl7.org fhir StructureDefinition translation) standard extension. This profile is informed by the constraints of the [IPS-UV Coding](http hl7.org fhir uv ips StructureDefinition-Coding-uv-ips.html) profile.

Profile on Practitioner
Project PS-CA-R1
This profile represents the constraints applied to the Practitioner resource by the PS-CA project to represent a practitioner acting as observer for diagnostic results. It is informed by the constraints of the [Practitioner IPS-UV profile](http hl7.org fhir uv ips StructureDefinition-Practitioner-uv-ips.html) and the [Canadian Baseline Profile](http build.fhir.org ig HL7-Canada ca-baseline branches master StructureDefinition-profile-practitioner.html) to allow for cross-border and cross-jurisdiction sharing of details that support Diagnostic Result Information. This profile may be underpinned by a CA Core profile in the future. There is a possibility it will be replaced entirely by a CA Core profile if the requirements for use in lab are aligned to expectations for generic use.

Profile on MedicationRequest
Project PS-CA-R1
This profile represents the constraints applied to the MedicationRequest resource by the PS-CA project which is informed by the constraints of the IPS-UV and by the constraints of the [Canadian Baseline Profile](http build.fhir.org ig HL7-Canada ca-baseline branches master StructureDefinition-profile-medicationrequest.html) to allow for cross-border and cross-jurisdiction sharing of information record of a medication request information in the patient summary.
